We’re so excited to see new faces at Rock Pointe!  This morning we had 15 kids in Children’s Church, and still had some of our regular kids absent today.  Thank you parents and grandparents for getting your kids to church- it is sooooo important.

In our children’s moment during big church, we learned about “smells.”  We had a spiritual smell as well as a physical one.  When we let Jesus live through us, His kindness and love will be a sweet fragrance, but if we live for ourselves, we stink with selfishness, pride and anger. We learned that if we read our Bibles, we can learn what smells good to God and we can ask Him to help us do those things that smell good. He will help us.

In Children’s Church, we went a little farther by talking about King Josiah.  He was just 8 years old but he sure could smell the stinky Israelites. When he got his little hands on the Bible- (the part of the bible they had back then) he realized they were living in a way that didn’t please God.  In fact- they were breaking a lot of the 10 commandments.  Josiah realized they had been worshipping idols!  How silly is that?  Well- we had to find out.  So- we made idols out of pretzel sticks and marshmallows just to see how crazy it is to worship something we can create instead of the one true God.

God’s Word helps me follow God, helps me learn how to smell good on the inside.  We worshipped God for His Word, the Bible today.

We would love so much for you to come to Children’s Church at Rock Pointe.  We truly love our kids and count it a privilege to serve them each week.  Also- we are planning to have Vacation Bible School on July 27,29,29 and 31.  VBS is for kids pre-k through 5 &6th grade.  Our theme is a Rain Forest theme and we will focus on John 3 :16.  If you have any questions about the Children’s Ministries at Rock Pointe, please email Pastorrhonda@heismyrock.com.

Hey Kids!  You were AWESOME yesterday!  I am so proud of you for helping so much in the service!  You all were ushers, praise-team members and even Bible readers!  I’m also proud of you for showing what you’ve learned about the 10 Commandments.  Learning about God is so important and can be fun too!  I’m still learning about God even as a grown up.  He is so big and amazing, we’ll never know everything, but we sure can draw close to Him!  Ok.. so.. what’s next???    Drum roll please……

 Kids and Parents,

We’re excited about starting a brand new Kid’s Worship Service on Sunday mornings.  We know how kids are full of energy, love to move, giggle and have fun.  We’re expecting Kids Own Worship to be a great way to learn truths about God and how worthy He is to be praised, but also tons of fun.

Kid’s Own Worship is a worship service for Kids of all ages.  (potty trained & up) This month, we will be learning about Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Daniel.  In August, we will learn about Nehemiah, Esther and Job.  For a complete scope and sequence and overview of Kids Own Worship, please visit: http://sundayschool.group.com/kidsown-worship/kidsown-worship-in-action.

Please keep bringing your kids on Sunday mornings, and invite more!  Kids- cooperate, go to bed early, get up early and help your parents get ready for church!  You’ll be so glad you did!

If you have any questions, please see or email Pastor Rhonda at pastorrhonda@heismyrock.com

Hey Kids and Parents…

I’m excited about this Sunday!  We have been working really hard learning about Moses and the Ten Commandments.  We’ve learned that God established rules for us- only to keep us safe!  He loves us and knows we need boundaries for our own good.  We’ve learned what the commandments mean, and we’ve learned a cute song that we want to share with you.  I realize we are in the middle of vacation season and some of the kids may have missed.. THATS OK!  :-)   Come on!  And… If you’re not going to be there this week, that’s ok too- hopefully this is the first of many children’s Sundays to come!  Oh yeah- and this Wed night after worship in the sanctuary at 7- we will be practicing in Ms. Ann’s room.

Also- we want the children to participate in the worship service as much as possible.  So- please have the kids at church between 9 30 and 9 45 this Sunday.  We need to get some little greeters in place, ushers and singers for the praise team and praise band.  We love kids at Rock Pointe and we are trying to teach them the ways of God, relationship with God and about being part of a church family.  Looking forward to this week.  If you have any questions, please email me at pastorrhonda@heismyrock.com.

YES!  VBS

AT ROCKPOINTE

JULY 27, 28, 29

6:15-8:30

Closing Service- July 31 at 10:00

It’s that great summer season of Vacation Bible School!  I have so many fond memories of Bible Stories, Fun Music, Popsicles- and crafts made out of popsicle sticks! lol  Oh- and don’t forget the end of the week program!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE  VBS! :-)

We are having Vacation Bible School on July 27, 28, and 29th(Wed, Thurs, Fri) and will have our closing service on Sunday morning at 10:00, July 31.  This year’s theme will be “Jungle-ish” and loaded with fun music, crafts, games, bible stories and more.  We will begin each night at 6:15 and end at 8:30.  Rock Pointe is located on 1278 Cross Street across from Joyland Daycare.  All kids are invited!  Even if you go to another church- you’re still invited. In fact- this year we plan on having a lot of friends from our sister church, Destiny Pointe, to join us!   We just truly want to minister to the kids in our community.  Many children accept Christ at Vacation Bible School and we’re praying to plant seeds and hopefully lead children to Christ this week.   Actually- that’s what VBS is all about!

You’re invited and encouraged to bring your friends and neighbors- all kids Pre-K- 12!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at pastorrhonda@heismyrock.com.  Visit http://heismyrock.com/ for directions and information about our church.  See you in a few weeks!

We had a blast with our Ice Cream Sundaes!  We had an ice cream topping bar set up for the kids and they were in heaven!  Thank you, parents for sending in goodies!

Woo Hoo, Kids…. We’re diving into our summer curriculum of “Hands on Bible.”  To add to the fun, we’re going to have a build- your-own ice cream sundae night! :-)   I love ice cream and I know you do too.  Bring your brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, and neighbors for lots of ice-cream fun.

Parents:  I will have the vanilla ice cream, please see me for topping sign up.  We could use different syrups, cool whip, cherries, bananas and candies.  Let’s stay away from the nuts- but anything else goes! :-)   Also- parents, take advantage of the new Wed night format!  Looking forward to beating the heat with ice-cream!  :-)

If you have any questions, email Pastor Rhonda at pastorrhonda@heismyrock.com.

Hey Kids and parents, we are kicking off the Summer Children’s Church Quarter with a study on the Ten Commandments.  We will be learning why God gave us rules to live by and exactly what the rules are.  As grown-ups, we sometimes forget words such as ”idols” or phrases like “take God’s name in vain” are completely foreign to our kids.  Just like we have rules at home, work and school, God has a set of rules for us to follow.  When we think of rules, we usually get negative thoughts and feel as if we’re missing out on something fun.  The truth is, rules are just limits that are set for our own good, by someone who is much wiser than us.  For instance, a typical rule of any classroom is “no running inside.”  Now- is running always bad?  No.  However, running inside is dangerous, therefore teachers issue a “no running inside limit.” Grown ups- what would happen if there were no red lights, stop signs or speed limits? Policemen enforce rules of the road for our safety.  God is the same way.  He knows that if He didn’t set boundaries, we would go wild& crazy and eventually hurt ourselves.  He is wise and knows what is best for us.

God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses many many years ago, but expects us to keep them today- for our own good!  We will be breaking apart 2 commandments per week starting May 29 and going thru July 3rd.  We will be using animated dvds for a portion of our service that will explain the ancient law, by using a common story line.  We will have a time of Bible Memory, Worship and hopefully a craft depending on the time.

As you know, Ms Rhonda helps Pastor Keith with big church on Sunday mornings, so parents… I could use some help!  Please let me know if you’re willing to help in Children’s Church.

Thank you!  I look forward to seeing you Sunday!  Invite a friend!  For information about Rock Pointe Church visit: http://heismyrock.com/

Hey Kids!  We are going to have an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00!  Bring your Easter Egg Baskets and your friends to the church for a great time.  I’ve heard there will be a few prize eggs out there somewhere too, so ya don’t wanna miss it! :-)

Parents:  We are going to have a cook out following the Egg Hunt.  Please bring enough hot dogs, buns and chips for your family.  We’ll provide drinks, plates and napkins.  If we could get a few volunteers to bake cupcakes/cookies- that would be GREAT! :-)   We’re looking forward to lots of fun.  Bring your family, invite your friends, neighbors and any other kids you know.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to bring cupcakes/cookies- please see Pastor Rhonda or email pastorrhonda@heismyrock.com

Thank you!

Hey Parents and Kids… We have our Spring Quarter in full swing on Wed nights.  I’ve had a chance to preview what you’re learing and I’m excited for you!  Remember our classes start at 7:00.  Our teachers are excited and ready to go.  Here’s what Group Publishing has to say about “Hands On Bible Curriculum:

“Hands-On Bible Curriculum uses unique games, snacks and crafts to help kids learn about God, because kids retain more by interacting with a lesson instead of just hearing it.  Jesus used everyday things to teach important truths.  Discovering the Bible will be a fun, hands-on experience that gets kids excited about coming to Sunday school.”

“Each lesson contains one Bible Point based on a specific Bible verse. Unlike typical Sunday school lessons, they’ll fire up kids’ imaginations and have them discovering God’s love in incredible, tangible ways!
